The latest version of Digital Editions can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/.

If you are currently using Adobe Digital Editions 1.7.1 or earlier, you will be prompted to update to the new version automatically next time you open Digital Editions.

  • The requested e-book is currently not available for download or has not been released for general distribution.

Some e-books are offered for sale by retailers in advance of the release date. (“pre-order”). In this case, please try downloading again on or after the release date. If you do not know the release date, please contact your retailer.

  • The requested e-book title cannot be downloaded at this time due to difficulty in communicating with the retail site. Please try again later.

Please contact your retailer so that they can investigate this issue.

  • Invalid Retailer ID

E-books from this retailer are not yet available or the system has detected an invalid retailer number. Please contact your retailer.

  • Server Timeout or Download Reset

This is most often caused by the problem with your Internet connection or browser. Please contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or check your browser to make sure it is working properly.

  • License Error (Server communication problem: E_ADEPT_IO)

This is a generic error caused by your firewall blocking the port and not allowing Adobe Digital Editions to download.  If you receive this error message while trying open an e-book with Adobe Digital Editions, check your firewall settings to make sure the standard port 80 is open.

Users of the original PRS-505 need to upgrade their firmware by visiting - http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swulist.pl?mdl=PRS505.  They also must download the latest version of the Sony Ebook Library and run the installer.  If they do not do this, Digital Editions will not be able recognize the PRS-505.
